roooooooocket man
Last night Jason (sleeping on my couch, jason) and I were fortunate enough to be able to go see Elton John at Madison Square Garden. I received tickets through work and our seats were AWESOME. We were on the floor, one section back from the stage. Elton opened up the show with some songs from his new peachtree road album. Elton then went on to say that he was celebrating the 30th anniversary of the captain fantastic album. He played through most of them and then the stage went dark and after a brief moment of silence he fired up “Benny and the Jets”. From that point on he played old school Elton jams.
My favorite part when he played “Rocket Man” ... it was totally epic - went on for what seemed like 20 minutes, he was playing the crowd like a puppet. The crowd was in constant flux, from a complete state of frenzy to quiet mindless solitude. The show was amazing. People were high fiveing, dancing, and screaming - the girl in front of us was even crying a little. The show lasted for over 3 hours with no breaks the entire experience was awesome… although I did have a problem with this older Canadian couple sitting next to us. They stole my skittles put them in their bag, then saw me looking around for them and they asked if they were mine, when I said yes they gave them back and then accused me of lying about the fact that they were mine. Whatever.Â

I couldn’t believe I was really there. That guy is whirling cloud of magic in the shape of a man. The Rocketman jam was definitely my favorite as well, I wish I had a copy of that thing. When he came back out for his first encore (yes, there were 2) he dropped the Crocodile rock on us. The crowd was singing and the band stopped playing, and thousands of voices took over in sweet harmony. It was awesome. That is the point when Jim and I knew our voices had taken a brutal beating from all the praise we were sending Captain Fantastic’s way. Easily one of the greatest events I’ve had the pleasure to witness. As Jim said as we walked out of MSG, “That was definitely not the amateur hour.”
Those damn Canadians, always taking others stuff. Just because they have a leaf on their flag doesn’t give them the right to steal a person’s skittles, and then get angry “aboot” it!!!
You run a high risk of stealitude with Skittles. Everybody and their Canadian mother wants em. And I like me some Elton John too.
Don’t let the Candians ruin your night- SO JEALOUS over here!
