dispatches from a transplanted Okie in New York · 2004–2009

About

I started this website when I moved to New York — July 31st, 2004. I moved here from Oklahoma in search of fame and glory in the advertising world. I write about what goes on in my life and in my head, sharing my experiences with those who wish to keep up, and those who mistakenly stumbled here.

This is the definitive rebuild of jim in the big apple, my personal site from my New York years (2004–2009). The original ran on pMachine and later a half-built ExpressionEngine redesign; all of it is long gone from the web. This version is stitched together from every source that survived — the Wayback Machine and my own old archive folders — and merged into one modern, fully self-contained site.

Everything runs offline from these files. A few images that lived on other people's servers back then are lost to time; where one can't be recovered, the page says so instead of showing a broken icon.
